J Mullineaux is a philanthropic leader with over 30 years of fundraising, gift planning, and charitable advising experience. After completing his B.A. at the University of Washington, he went on to Columbia University, earning an M.A. in Organizational Psychology. After graduate school, Mullineaux moved back to the West Coast, building a life in San Francisco and working in arts advancement. He began his career of philanthropic support as Director of Development for some of California’s leading arts institutions, including the San Francisco Ballet. After a long career with the ballet, he decided to move to different arts-related projects, including work with the campaign establishing San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum in 2003. Today, Mullineaux helps others craft their legacies as the Vice President for Philanthropic Planning at Community Foundation Sonoma County, a grant-giving organization that has awarded over $170 million to various nonprofits in the region since its inception. At Community Foundation Sonoma County, Mullineaux works with individuals and their families to ensure the wealth they have accumulated will mean something long after they are gone. In addition to his professional life, Mullineaux gives back to his community as a member of the Leadership Santa Rosa Steering Committee, the Becoming Independent Arts Advisory Council, and the Boards of Directors of the Redwood Empire Estate Planning Council and the Oliver Ranch Foundation.
