  • Chad Allen visit CANCELLED. I mentioned that Chad Allen was going to present best practices for inclusive searches. He will be holding an event with more or less the same content next week and you’re invited to attend. If you cannot make it at this time, you can request a recording. A number of us attended this event last year, and it offers a lot of great guidance for writing position descriptions, assessment rubrics, conducting searches, and so on. I highly recommend attending or viewing the video if you can:

In April, we were asked by UW Study Abroad to consider in principle whether we were open to vetting local part-time lecturers to teach COM courses in UWSA’s new “Rome in Residence” program. All faculty who weighed in agreed we should consider candidates, but some suggested conditions. UWSA is now asking us to consider Dr. Lorenzo Coretti, an Italian communication scholar they’d like to hire to teach a UW COM course. Coretti’s dossier and a pdf of my initial email describing the program are in the materials drive.
