Communication is Foundational
Undergraduate study in communication at the University of Washington has four foundations: communication literacy, communication inquiry, theory and concepts, and community engagement. We teach our students to think critically, respect diversity, and communicate effectively.
The skills our majors hone in the Communication major — critical thinking, effective written and verbal communication, analysis and strategy— open opportunities in a wide range of career paths. Communication alumni are journalists, entertainment industry professionals, marketing strategists, corporate and nonprofit leaders, political and civil officials, and more.
