Make a Gift

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of those whose gifts have enriched and sustained our department. Your support provides us with additional opportunities to advance education and research, while inspiring tomorrow’s communication leaders. Our field of study has never been more relevant; the ability to curate, connect, and collaborate on ideas has never been more important.

Since their creation, the funds listed below have had a huge, positive impact in the lives of our students. Our best work is done together. Thank you for your boundless support!

2020-2021 Funding Priorities:

The Dolores Eyler Fund supports Communication students who encounter significant expenses due to unexpected and difficult circumstances. Realizing that such moments can cause great hardship for students and interfere with their studies and progress at the UW, this Fund provides unconditional grants — funds that do not need to be repaid — for students to help them through challenging situations.

The Crowell Graduate Student Fund honors Professor Emerita Laura Crowell, and is used exclusively by graduate students to support research in the Department of Communication. In particular, this fund supports graduate student travel to conferences to present papers that have been accepted, as well as research activities such as coding, transcription, and the duplication of surveys and other materials used by students in their research projects.

The Communications Discretionary Fund provides unrestricted support for the Department of Communication within the College of Arts and Sciences. Gifts to this fund are used at the discretion of the Chair and are directed where they are needed most. Some examples of support include: study abroad experiences in Europe and elsewhere; career exploration trips to New York, California and around the Seattle area; cross-cultural engagement opportunities for minority students; and the continued development of our career-focused Career Kickstart courses and programs.

If you would like to learn more about the funds that support our department, please see our Scholarships, Awards, and Special Funds Page for additional information.
