The Communication and Difference Research Group (CDRG) is a collaboration among University of Washington faculty and graduate students dedicated to the study of difference within the field of communication. It is housed at the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity (CCDE). While academic work can sometimes be a solitary pursuit, the CDRG believes that building a supportive and generative environment for emerging and seasoned scholars to share, develop, and celebrate their scholarship opens new possibilities and critically engages difference at the institutional level.
Over the course of the pandemic, the group has not been able to get together in person. In the lab report linked below, various members of the CDRG share what life has been like for them since the pandemic. Structured around the idea of virtual hallways, they re-enact what it is like to bump into each other outside of their beloved community space in the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity (CCDE) at the Communication building.
