Katie Campbell is an editor, reporter and podcast host for KUOW, Seattle’s NPR station. She specializes in major breaking news, investigative journalism and modern literary coverage; Katie founded the KUOW Book Club in 2024 to highlight stories from the Pacific Northwest. In 2025, she won two SPJ Northwest Excellence in Journalism Awards, including first place in investigative reporting and second in arts and culture reporting.

She previously worked at KJZZ, Phoenix’s NPR station, and as a newspaper reporter in Arizona, covering the state House of Representatives, elections, courts and education. Katie first started her reporting in the desert in 2015 as an investigative reporting fellow with Arizona State University’s News21 unit, where she covered the legalization of marijuana across the U.S. That project was an IRE Award finalist.

Katie first started her multimedia work at WUFT, the NPR and PBS affiliate housed at the University of Florida, where she studied journalism.

Her work also has appeared on NPR and in The Washington Post, Arizona Capitol Times, CHICAGO magazine, Chicago Reader and others.

Katie teaches multimedia journalism.
