Sarah Choi, Ph.D., (she/her) is a media scholar and practitioner whose interests range from historic home movies and found footage filmmaking to dance films. She is the recipient of the 2024-25 AAUW American Dissertation Fellowship, 2021 Barclay Simpson Scholars in Public Fellowship, and the 2022 Simpson Center Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship. She won Third Place in the 2021 Society for Cinema & Media Studies (SCMS) Student Writing Award for her essay, “Life, Death, or Something in Between: Photographic Taxidermy in Get Out (2017)” and the 2020 Davis Feminist Film Festival’s Best Documentary award for “Big Scissors, Small Scissors.”
